Work that does not need this license:

  • No license is needed for plumbing in a home you own and live in, unless a local ordinance requires one.1
  • Exempt: agricultural buildings outside city limits not connected to a public water, sewer or natural gas system; minor repairs of working parts and removing stoppages.1
  • The plumbing law does not cover LP-gas systems or fire-sprinkler piping downstream of the point supplying sprinklers only; plumbers may not break a water-well seal or alter the casing (well work is licensed by the Department of Agriculture).11
