License tools

Two quick ways into the records: check what a license requires, or see how a move between states affects your license.

Tools

Each state page also has a renewal planner: enter the expiration date on your license to see how many days are left, with the board's renewal fee and continuing education rule. The tools run in your browser from the same verified records as the pages; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

What the tools know

They cover 12 occupations and 499 occupation and state combinations, 1,555 credentials in all. For each credential they hold the training and experience hours, the exam, every fee the board lists with who you pay, the renewal cycle and continuing education, and the routes the board publishes for licenses from other states, including 78 published reciprocity lists. They never add fees together and never guess: where a board does not publish something, the tools leave it out and point you to the full page.

The tools cover the same 50 states and DC as the state pages, and only the occupations and states whose pages have passed both checks; a combination that is not covered yet is not offered in the lists. When a record is re-checked, the tools change with the page on the next build.

The tools do not submit anything to a board, and they cannot tell you whether a board will approve your application. Every result links the full state page, where each value has its footnote with the board's own words and the date we checked it; confirm with the board before you apply or pay a fee.

Start with the checker if you are getting your first license, and with the moving planner if you already hold one and are relocating.
