How to get a Producer License in Vermont
Vermont licenses insurance agents statewide through the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR).1 For the Producer License (resident) you need a passing score on the Vermont producer examination for each line of authority (Life, Accident and Health or Sickness, Property, Casualty, Personal lines, Variable life and variable annuity)2 and a criminal background check1. The board lists $30 for the application1 and $30 for the initial license1, each a separate charge. You renew every 2 years1 and complete at least 24 hours of continuing education1.
